Meet Our Team
James Fannon - Chief Executive Officer
James is the owner, founder and CEO of Special Investigations Group & SIG Tactical. With a background of more than 30 years in the investigation and security fields, James began his career in the U.S. Army where he was assigned to multiple units in the United States and European theaters. During his enlistment, James had the opportunity to serve with the United Nations on a peacekeeping mission in Macedonia and is a combat veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After his military service, James worked as a law enforcement officer where he conducted numerous investigations ranging from civil infractions to homicides as a patrol officer, general case, auto theft, major case team and vice/undercover detective. During his tenure, James was also selected as a Field Training Officer to train new recruits and was certified as an expert in automobile theft in Kent County Courts.
After his law enforcement career, James began his investigative work in the civilian arenawhere he was mentored by Gene Debbaudt, Retired Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's West Michigan District and owner of Debbaudt Investigations, LLC. Over the years, Special Investigations Group and Debbaudt Investigations have formed a strong alliance and continue to work together daily to provide our clients "with facts to make a better decision."
Erika Fannon - President
Erika is the President of Special Investigations Group and SIG Tactical and a licensed professional investigator in Michigan and Indiana who specializes in death investigations.

Prior to becoming a professional investigator, Erika was a police officer with the Grand Rapids Police Department in Grand Rapids, Michigan for twenty-eight (28) years. Twenty-one (21) years of Erika’s law enforcement career was spent as a homicide investigator for the Grand Rapids Police Department’s Major Case Team. Erika spent three (3) years on the Kent Metro Cold Case Team investigating cold case homicides from the West Michigan area. Erika was also an investigator assigned to the Children’s Assessment Center where she investigated crimes against tender-age children. Erika has a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Ferris State University.
Benjamin C.
Bobby B.
Bobby has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a Special Agent for the U.S. Coast Guard and a Detective/Lieutenant for the U.S. Department of Defense Civilian Police.
He has a Bachelors Degree in Technical Management with a Minor in Criminal Justice.
Ben has more than 15 years of law enforcement experience where he has served as a patrol officer, detective, road patrol supervisor and detective supervisor. He is a member of a Special Response Team and a sniper. Ben has conducted multiple security operations for VIP's, sports figures and businesses.
Chris F.
Chris has more than 11 years of law enforcement experience within the State of Michigan where he has served in the road patrol and investigations units.
Calvin V.
Calvin has over 35 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a supervisor working directly with the DEA and ATF. He was a Station Commander assigned to the United Nations International Police Force in Bosnia where he investigated international human trafficking working with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Dan B.
Dan is a U.S. Army combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He has 25 years of law enforcement experience, 12 of which were as a member of a Special Response Team. He has provided personal protection in domestic and foreign theaters to key executives, VIP's, Hollywood celebrities, sports professionals, and political figures. Dan was a team leader for Blackwater and completed 2 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afghanistan. He is the founder of Eagle Tactical, LLC where he provides tactical/firearm training and protection for private clients and is the inventor/founder of Push Defense.
Dan L.
Dan has 23 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a patrol officer, Special Response Team member, detective, background investigator, and Field Training Officer. He served as a member of the FBI Violent Crime/Fugitive Task Force where he tracked and apprehended violent criminals. Dan designs and manufactures custom tactical firearms for private clients and provides firearms tailored for their needs.
David B.
David has more than 40 years law enforcement experience where 19 of those years was as a Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety. Dave is a graduate of the FBI National Academy & School of Police Staff and Command and has a Masters Degree in Public Administration. He has been classified by Jackson County Courts as an expert witness in narcotics trafficking.
Doug V.
Doug has more than 15 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a road patrol officer, a drug team detective and member of the Emergency Response Team. He is certified as a Forensic Interviewer and has 4 years of active duty service in the United States Marine Corps.
Elmer J.
E.J. has more than 25 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a road patrol officer, detective, Special Response Team, Major Case Supervisor and Narcotics Supervisor. He has worked on a local gang
task force which focused on getting weapons and drugs off the streets.
Garrett C.
Garrett is a NRA & USCCA Certified Handgun Personal Protection Instructor and has trained thousands of individuals from beginner to advanced in handgun and personal protection strategies. He is actively involved in church security for a large West Michigan church and is an instructor in defensive tactics for other church and corporate security teams. Garret is a graduate of the Tom Givens Rangemaster Instructor Development & Certification Course and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Michigan Technological University.
Gene D.
Gene has more than 34 years of law enforcement investigative experience where he served as a Special Agent in Charge of FBI Operations in West Michigan covering 20 counties. He has directed multiple multi-jurisdictional task forces targeting organized gambling and illegal narcotics and directed numerous major case investigations including murder, kidnapping, extortion, and armored car robberies. Gene has served as a cold case investigator for two Michigan Sheriff Departments where he was responsible for the investigation, arrest and conviction of three cold case murder suspects. He is the owner of Debbaudt Investigations, LLC where he provides Private Investigation and Security Consulting services.
Heather M.
Heather has more than 23 years law enforcement experience as a patrol officer, detective in the general and major case units and as an investigator in a family services unit. She is a current member of a hostage negotiator team and command staff.
James S.
James has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience where he has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, school resource officer, general case detective and investigator focusing on Crimes Against Children.
Jeffrey has more than 20 years law enforcement experience where he served as a road patrol officer and a Police Sergeant. He is a licensed Medical First Responder and has completed a wide variety of multiple law
enforcement trainings. Jeffrey is also a 12 year veteran of United States Air Force and the Michigan Air National Guard. His military career consisted of a variety of specialty areas including being activated after the events of 9/11 for 1 year as a Security Forces Specialist. He is a life-long student of Martial Arts with formal training in Ta Kwon Do;
Judo and Krav Maga.
Jeffrey Z.
Jeffrey has more than 15 years in the private security arena where he has provided physical security for high-end retail locations, personal security for foreign delegates and dignitaries, surveillance for residential locations,
large venue cash drops and AIPAC events. He is retired from the Detroit Fire Department.
Jeremiah has more than 5 years of law enforcement experience where he has served on the patrol unit. Prior to that, Jeremiah was a branch manager of a nationwide bank where he managed two offices, multiple staff members and responsible for precise monthly audits.
John R.
John has more than 20 years law enforcement experience where he investigated multiple crimes at the street level ranging from drug enforcement to homicides. John is a licensed pilot and founder of Gentle Response, LLC where he instructs conflict resolution concepts and skills with dynamic realistic scenarios.
Kenneth H.
Ken has more than 6 years as a Certified Executive Protection Specialist and is nationally ranked as a SarTech II by the National Association for Search and Rescue. Ken has studied and earned Black Belts in both Issinryu and Shorinryu Karate.
Kristin D.
Kristin has more than 19 years of law enforcement experience with a metropolitan law enforcement agency. She has extensive experience in background investigations, patrol operations and as a detective specializing in Crimes Against Children, Pharmaceutical Diversion, Asset Forfeiture and Undercover/Surveillance Operations. Kristin has been highly decorated for her success on complex investigations.
Kirsten G.
Kirsten has more than 18 years of law enforcement experience where she has been assigned to the road patrol and investigations units. She is a Certified Forensic Interviewer and background investigator for her department.
Lacey L.
Lacey has more than 5 years of investigative experience for a state agency with a focus on families and children. She is a Dean's List Award Winner and graduate from a major university with a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree majoring in Family Studies with a minor in Youth Studies.
Larry J.
Larry has more than 6 years of law enforcement experience where he focuses on Cyber Crimes Investigations. He has a Networking Security background working in the banking industry, a Masters Degree in Computer Science and is a MCOLES Certified Firearms Instructor.
Mark G.
Mark has more than 27 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a patrol officer and detective assigned to general case, auto theft, financial crimes and major case units. Mark continues to conduct police recruit background investigations and works with the Auto Theft Prevention Authority.
Nicholas B.
Nicholas is a ten year veteran of the United States Air Force Security Forces and have deployed multiple times to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a graduate of Grand Valley State University’s Military Police Basic Training Program and has an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor’s Degree of Exercise Science from Grand
Valley State University.
Paula L.
Paula has more than 20 years of combined law enforcement/state agency investigative experience. She has served as a sworn patrol officer, a public safety officer, security supervisor for an international company, and an investigator for a state agency where she focuses on families. Paula has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Management.
Robert G.
Robert has more than 20 years as a corrections guard experience at a maximum security prison as well being a member of the Emergency Response Team. He has been assigned to units such as Level Five Boot Camp and is the investigator for prisoner misconducts.
Robert S.
Robert has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a patrol officer, Special Response Team member, and vice/undercover detective. He was selected as Police Officer of the Year in 2011 for exemplary work. Robert has studied the Okinawan style of martial arts for more than 30 years and has been awarded a 5th Degree Black Belt.
Stacy P.
Stacy has more than 15 years of experience investigating child abuse and neglect. For 6 years, she was part of a multi-disciplinary team where she specialized in investigating child sexual abuse. During that time, she conducted hundreds of joint criminal sexual abuse investigation with law enforcement. She has testified in numerous court cases and has been identified as an expert witness in child abuse/neglect matters.
Steve V.
Steve has more than 20 years law enforcement experience where he conducted investigations as a patrol officer, vice/undercover detective and general case detective. He was a member of a Special Response Team, Department Pistol Team and served as a Field Training Officer for new recruits. Steve received the Police Officer of the Year Award from his department as well as a Court Employee of the Year Award.

Tim has more than 18 years experience conducting auto theft investigations with a major insurance carrier and 15 years as a Personal Protection Asset where he conducts protection and risk assessments. Tim
has assisted the United States Marshals with surveillance and recovery of felony fugitives.
Terry is a life-long Martial Artist with more than 44 years of experience and is a former World PAKA Kickboxing Champion. He is a current USCCA & NRA Defensive Handgun Instructor and has extensive experience in personal and event security. Terry is the founder of Super T Karate and SRCTD Tactical Handgun Company.
Tom has more than 34 years experience in law enforcement in the State of Michigan. During that time, he served as a road deputy/paramedic, detective, patrol supervisor, and sniper on the Special Response Team. He continues to provide personal protection to key figures, major sporting events and upon aircraft. Tom is a firefighter, Medical Examiner Investigator and provides all emergency medical attention for tactical operations for Special Investigations Group.
William has more than 24 years of law enforcement experience where he served as a road patrol officer and police detective where he investigated numerous cases including Criminal Sexual Conduct and Homicide. He
has served as the security director for more than 100 + family housing units and has a Masters Degree in Human Services/Criminal Justice.
